Paper, Plastic, or Pay 5 cents for a bag?
February 22, 2010 by spalmer

I’m noticing now that the question isn’t “Paper or Plastic?” but it’s more “Do you need a bag?” Is this because stores are becoming skimpy on giving out bags now? And now, they even have the reusable bags that you can purchase at the register for a $1.00.
In some parts of the U.S., people are being charged 5 cents per bag for their groceries. So now, you’ll see more people carrying their purchases (like candy or soda) out of the store in their hands because of the small fee that they have to pay for a bag.
The idea of being charged for bags is becoming more common in America, but it’s nothing new for Europeans. They’ve been providing their own bags and baskets for their purchases.
So if the law comes to your town to be charged for using the store bags, just bring your own. In a way, it’ll save both you and the Earth.
Awe… It Was a Snowy V-Day for Augusta

Hope you guys enjoyed the pretty snow (not the black ice, though!) and was able to play in it! I can’t remember the last time I saw so much snow in Augusta!
I found some cute photos online that people sent in to the “Augusta Chronicle.” I didn’t know we had some many artists in the area :. It turns out that the new millennium kids know how to build things besides the old-fashioned snowman. Someone built a “Spongebob-man;” and modern Leonard DaVinci sculpted a football player. Then, I guess Cupid stopped in a made a beautiful heart with “Happy Valentine’s Day” sketched on it. Too cool!
But my favorite photo was the one with the enormous polar bear sitting in the front yard of a resident. It even came with a pretty scarf wrapped around its neck.
If you have any snow pics, feel free to post them or link them to our page.
Find the Perfect V-Day Gift for Her

Alright men, with Valentine’s Day just a few days away, this question comes to mind: do you have your gift for your sweetie pie yet? Just like Christmas, people seem to do last-minute shopping with Valentine’s Day. And if you’re like my brother, you could use a couple of ideas to help you decide. Luckily, I found a listing of some nice things that you could buy for under $50 bucks for that special lady.
1. Note to men: Wome
n LOVE Bath and Body works. They are having some of the best deals to imagine around this time, such as “buy 2 get 1″ on lotions, fragrances, and soaps. They even have box sets for under $40 bucks. Guess that’s one stop for you, huh?
2. Hit up the shoe stores: Nine times out of ten your lady’s closet has more shoes than anything else…but that’s okay, because we can NEVER have enough of them. Check out stores like Bakers, Aldo, and even department stores like Macy’s. You’re guaranteed to bring home a pair that’ll make her smile.
3. If your lady loves Coach, you should definitely try picking her up a small wristlet. Right now, you can get those for about $48 from the Coach store as well as department stores. Just ask the lady in the bag section for deals.
Ok, that’s all for right now. But other stores to check out are Vicky Secret, Charlotte Rousse, and Forever 21. And don’t forget the box of chocolate… if she doesn’t like anything else, she’ll definitely love that!
Happy Valentine’s Day hunting!

Starbucks Goes Green

One of the biggest coffee selling chains is trying to find ways for local communities to continue recycling efforts. To start it off, Starbucks has already agreed to make 100 percent recyclable cups by 2012.
But Starbucks also wants to make it easier for consumers to recycle this cups verses trashing them by having curbside recycling bins.
What a great way for Starbucks to begin the year. Not only will they think of servicing our wants, but they’ll be of service to what the community needs. So the next time you buy that grande Caramel Frapaciunno, think “Green.”
Congrats Starbucks for your “Go Green” efforts!

The Tea Party Express II bus tour has a stop planned tomorrow at Augusta Common. The tour started as a series of tea party rallies across the nation, and is being billed as a “Countdown to Judgment Day” for elected officials. At each stop, the tour will highlight those in Congress who voted for higher spending, higher taxes, and government interference. Do you plan to attend the rally, or are you against the conservative movement? You can click here for more info on The Tea Party Express.
Hunters For The Hungry

This year, the Hunters for The Hungry will once again be accepting donations of venison at food banks in the state. OutdoorNewsDaily.com has full details, but you can donate through January 15th, with additional sites providing processing of the meat in November. If you haven’t had venison, see if you can’t find a hunter at your office, because it is good stuff. And if you find one, maybe tell him (or her) about the Hunters for The Hungry? On the other hand, if you have easy access to venison….hint hint hint.
For more information on donating food to those in need during other times of the year, call the Atlanta Community Food Bank at (404) 892-FEED. For more information on the GHFTH program, visit www.gohuntgeorgia.com , www.gwf.org ,contact a WRD Game Management office or call (770) 761-3045.
